December 2015

Here's to hoping I can remember everything that has happened during the past month.  :-/  Hang on because this might get long.
  • I took a pretty sweet slo-mo video on my phone.

  • Cade turned 5 months old!  He weighed just under 21 lbs.  He's so sweet.  This past month he has started having some issues sleeping at night.  He used to sleep through the night but then he started waking up anywhere from 2-8 times a night.  Sometimes he would be hungry and other times he would just need rocking back to sleep.  I started him on some rice cereal right before Christmas and that was a nightmare.  He didn't sleep well at all with that in his belly.  He has taken a little bit better to oatmeal and he has eaten carrots a few times now.  He also refuses to take a pacifier anymore.  Occasionally he will take it as he is falling asleep but even that is rare. Caleb turned on the infrared space heater in our bedroom and Cade has consistently been sleeping though the night again!  Oatmeal and warmth seem to be the trick!

  • One day I woke up and decided that I wanted to get out of the house and go somewhere.  Since shopping isn't always the easiest to do with two tots (not to mention I don't need to spend money) I decided to text Lydia and see what she was up to.  She told me they were home and would love visitors!  A few days later she got to meet her new little mister!  Cade is excited to have a buddy just like Liam and Ellie!

  • I started selling some more bandana bibs in time for Christmas.  It's fun to be able to make a little of extra money doing something that I really enjoy doing.

So the backing of those bandana bibs is a flour sack towel.  I went to walmart one day to get some more.  I thought I grabbed a 5 pack, and it turns out that I actually only grabbed 3 individual ones.  I didn't realize it until I was pulling the tags off when I went to wash them.  I had gone through the self check out so I knew that I for sure had only paid for one of the three.  The next day I went back to walmart and grabbed one towel and rang it up 3 times.  Fortunately the computer didn't yell too loud at me for not bagging my items.  I sent this picture to my sister and told her that this sign no longer applies to me.

  • Oh so to add to the excitement of the day that I stole flour sack towels from Walmart....I was driving our new suv (I'll get to that in a minute) for the first time.  What I didn't realize was that in order to get the key out of the ignition that I had to push the key in to turn it all of the way toward me.  I just turned as far as it would go and pulled....and I pulled out the whole ignition.  Whoops.

I had to call Caleb and have him come put it back in for me.  Fortunately I was in walking distance of three stores that I needed to go to anyway and he had the kids with him so I wasn't stranded with them in tow. One of the places that I stopped was at the eye doctor to get my glasses fixed (for the bajillionth time) and the guy who was fixing them asked me what kind of trouble I was getting in to that day.  I told him what I had just done not even 5 minutes prior and he mentioned that I seemed very calm for being stranded.  Why get all worked up when you are stranded at a shopping center without kids?  It's like a vacation!  ;-)

Oh so back to the new car.  We got a Ford Explorer.  Caleb had been wanting a different vehicle that was more child friendly.  His didn't have heat or air conditioning in hi old one.  We both really enjoy driving it.  And I now know how to properly get the key out of the ignition all by myself.

We bought the explorer from Caleb's dad and we gave him Caleb's old car.  We went to Caleb's parents' house to go make everything official and got to get a few Christmas pictures while we were there with all of the boys wearing Christmas shirts that Christa had made.
This pretty well shows what it is usually like when trying to take a picture.
Bubba in his Santa hat
Cousins in their matching shirts

  • The next day we went to Bass Pro to go get pictures with Santa.  It's the third year in a row that we have met Caleb's sister and her kids there to get pictures.

They also have other games and activities there.

There was an older guy there by himself and he was also playing the games.  :-D  YOLO, right?

After we left there we went to Steak n Shake for lunch.  Usually when we go out to eat (which isn't often) we just have Liam eat off of our plates.  Today, though, we got him his first kids meal!  He gobbled it up and still ate off of our plates.

All done!

  • My parents came for a weekend visit.  It was also the same weekend that I had a church ladies Christmas fellowship, so guess who got to hang out with my kids!
It's rough having to wait for your little brother to get out of the bathtub so you can take a bath.

Everytime my dad tried moving his hand, Cade would make sure he scooted it back with his foot.

  • That same weekend was our children's Christmas program at church.  Liam was supposed to be a Christmas tree and there was a song where he was supposed to spin in circles.  We had practiced at home and he absolutely loved dancing to the song.  For whatever reason Liam was in a funk the morning of the program and did NOT want to do his song.  Cade also had a part as baby Jesus and he slept through his whole performance.

Here is proof that he loves dancing to the song.

  • We are renting our current church building and the owner of the building sold it.  The new owner wants to renovate the building so we will eventually have to move out.  They had a church work day up there to clean out some of our stuff from the building.  There were a couple of little baby cribs stored away in a closet.  They were going to throw them out but Caleb brought them home instead.  We didn't really have a use for them as baby cribs so Caleb took them apart and made me some new drying racks!
When I'm not using them they can lay flat against the wall....but that rarely ever happens.

  • My sister had been visiting her fiance in Kansas City and was driving back to St. Louis.  She stopped in Columbia and we met up with her at White Castle.

Liam was proud of himself for getting his cow stuck in the string on the blinds

  • Caleb took Liam and went with his dad to go visit his grandparents over in Illinois.  Cade and I got to hang out for the whole day by ourselves.  I was able to get some stuff done that I wouldn't normally be able to with Liam running around and getting in to stuff.  It was nice to have them back home that evening though.  It was pretty quiet around here!

  • Centralia has a live nativity walk-through thing.  Caleb was a wise man in the production.  Fortunately when we walked through it Liam didn't recognize Caleb.

After the nativity Christa and her boys came back by to eat dinner.  All 5 boys were getting cranky by that point.
Cade sat up unassisted for the first time to talk to his cousin.
Christmas
We started off our celebrating on the Wednesday before Christmas and went to Caleb's parents' house.

Bubba loves his new tool box!

The next day was Christmas Eve and we gave Liam his presents that morning.  We got him a Little People zoo and a few other things but that was really all that he cared much about.  Caleb and I didn't exchange presents because we are saving up to take an anniversary trip sometime in the next year.

Liam was watching tv that morning and I brought out his Christmas presents.  They sat there at least 10 minutes before Caleb finally had to point them out to Liam.

Caleb had office hours during the afternoon on Christmas Eve and then we had the Christmas Eve service at church.  Liam likes to sing along to songs at church now and it's adorable.  :-)  After the service we left and went to my parents' house.  Christmas morning we woke up and had breakfast and opened presents.  By "we" I mean Liam opened every one's presents.  He had a great time doing it.

Eating breakfast next to Great Grandpa :-)
Amy blessed me with 9 identical selfies on my phone so clearly she wanted me to post at least one.  You're welcome.

Liam got some new chalk and wanted to try it out.  He decided to give the ol' Pedro statue a makeover.  Also, yes that is a fake grass pad for Amy's dog to pee on but he has yet to successfully pee on it.  Just know that Liam is not sitting in dog pee.

The next morning we left my parents and went to Caleb's grandma's house in Northeast Missouri and got to spend some time with his family up there.

At first Liam was excited about going.  But then his sleepy crankies made their way out. The poor boy had such a busy few days that he was just getting overwhelmed.

Liam devoured a sugar cookie while we were there.

  • I made some picture thingys to give out as Christmas presents this year.  This is my sister's because I forgot to take any pictures.  You can stick pictures in the picture holders at the top.  I ordered pictures to give with them but Walmart photo services are lame and something happened to my order and it never got delivered.

  • The Sunday after Christmas I was unloading our van of all of our goodies and when I walked back up to the front door this face greeted me.

  • That afternoon we went to Kessa's first birthday party.  Clearly Liam thought he was also the life of the party

Waiting for Kessa so he could dig into some cake!
.
Ok so here's the rest of the pictures from the past month:

Getting to play with his new train track from Aunt Amy

My happy Bubba

I forgot Liam's hat so he got to wear his Dadna's at church.

One day we had gotten home from the grocery store and as I'm putting food away I hear a giggle behind me.  I turn around and Liam had somehow climbed into the high chair all by himself.

Liam loves giving his brother bottles of water.

Cade's first food was a pickle.

Since Cade has outgrown his infant car seat, my parents got us a new convertible car seat for Christmas.  Liam thought it made a good tv watching chair.

I love spending my days with these two boys.

All of his animals wanted to watch the new Cade exhibit.
Working on his cheese face.

Mr and Mrs Claus.  :-D
Cheesing for a picture to send to Aunt Amy
He loves playing with his "new" barn.  Caleb's dad made it for Caleb when he was a tot.
With unseasonably warm temps the past few weeks we have gotten to spend some time outside! Liam likes to draw on the shed door with chalk.
This is how he drags me around outside.
Cade loves to swing
Sometimes it even puts him to sleep.

Oscar is a sight to behold.
The best way to eat hot dogs!
Ready to go to church.  He tried sneaking two bags of toys with him.
Cade will chew on anything he can get his hands on.  Including my foot.

Cade went through a phase where he wanted to touch my face all over while he nursed.
Some more videos:

Liam absolutely loves anything Noah's Ark related so when I played him this song for the first time he loved it.  He only has one dance move though.

Speaking Liam's language back to him.
