Monday - since Sunday was so rough, I called the doctor Monday morning and got him an appointment. There were so many sick kids in the waiting room! The doctor checked him out and said that everything on him looked great. No signs of infection anywhere, just a virus that would need to run its course.
Liam finally ate some animal crackers! (I realize he doesn't have pants on again, but it makes him happy. We are striving for happy during these rough days)
Liam trying to get into everything at the doctor's office. Those silly child safety locks!
So he rearranged furniture instead.
Caleb got Liam to eat a really good lunch and that seemed to really help him. Part of that lunch consisted of eating a banana...but then Liam needed his sunglasses...and of course he can't stay inside with sunglasses. (Whatever it takes, right?)
I also went to Sonic to get us some happy hour drinks to try to get Liam to drink more. The doctor said to give him something caloric to drink, so what better solution than a slush? Sonic is like a mile away from our house and Liam zonked out while we were gone. Usually whenever the van stops moving he wakes up immediately, but not today. The van was a little warm so I opened up all of the doors and hung a blanket to keep the sun off of him.
After Liam woke up we went to the backyard for him to drink his slush. Caleb was working out in the shed so of course Liam had to be right by his side. Caleb was hammering some hook things and Liam wanted a hammer to help. I wish I would have gotten a video because they were adorable sitting there hammering right next to each other. He's such a daddy's boy.
Tuesday - Liam woke up around 6:30 coughing. I went and gave him a drink and tried to get him to go back to sleep. Around 7:30 he was crying for me to come get him. I went in there and changed his diaper, like normal....except this time when I pulled his pants off to change his diaper, there was no diaper. I was kind of freaking out because I didn't put him to bed the night before and was really hoping he went to bed with a diaper. His pants were completely dry so I got to looking around and found his very full diaper under one of his blankets. I guess it must have fallen off and he pulled it out of a pant leg. I can't think of any other explanation.
Other than having a cough, Liam seemed to be feeling great! I told him if he took a good nap and ate a good lunch that we would go visit Daddy and the baby chicks at work. He held up his end of the bargain so we went to visit Orscheln. He actually like the bunnies better than the chicks. He tried picking up a chick but I feared for that chick's life so I intercepted.
After we left there we went to Target because I needed to get Liam some more cold tablets since he went through a whole bottle the week before. After Target we went to the grocery store back in Centralia. When I put him in the cart I noticed he only had one shoe. We went back out to the van looking for it and I couldn't find it anywhere. I called Target and sure enough someone had turned in his shoe. I didn't really feel like driving the 30 minutes back to Target, and my husband is awesome and went and got it for me after he got off from work.
We went outside to play Wednesday afternoon. I love love love love love having a fenced in backyard. I feel like we can go outside without being a spectacle to all of the cars driving by, and I don't have to worry about Liam running out into the street. I think we have probably spent more time outside in the past few weeks than we ever did the whole time we lived at the old house.
Talking to the next door neighbor's dog, Tiger.
Liam has a new fascination with pulling bark off of the trees and carrying it around and/or trying to eat it.
Thursday - I stalked the DHL delivery guy all morning. He brought me diapers! I was too excited about ordering the baby some new diapers so I went ahead and did it. When I ordered Liam's I only ordered solid colors because it was cheaper. This time around I thought it was worth the extra $12 to get the 20 diapers in prints instead of solids. I want so badly to start using these now but I want to keep them un-stretched out for the baby's tiny butt.
Liam also napped for 2 1/2 hours. I decided to be productive the whole time and got a lot of work done around the house. I pretty much have everything unpacked, there's just a little organizing I need to do here and there to make things fit better and some pictures need hung on the walls. When we moved in we threw anything we didn't know what to do with in the baby's room. I finally found places for everything so I could start putting a nursery together. There's no crib because Liam is still using it and the baby will sleep in the pack n play in our room for awhile anyway and the changing table is also still in Liam's room because we still use that for him (this fat girl doesn't like changing diapers on the floor). Eventually those things will go in the baby's room, at least until he starts sleeping through the night and then we plan on moving the two boys into the same room.
Liam did of course have to help me swiffer the floor.
After Liam got up we met a lady from church at the church to clean for the week. Note to self: when you are this pregnant, don't work for 2 1/2 hours at home then go clean at church. You will be in pain. I parked myself on the couch for the rest of the day. Mostly because it hurt too much to walk. This baby number two ligament pain is no joke.
Friday - We went to Hannibal to get our taxes done. My tax accounting teacher from college has done them for us the past two years. With Caleb being a pastor I have been concerned about whether or not I was capable of doing them correctly myself. I did them in Turbo Tax ahead of time last year and we got the same federal amounts...the states were tricky because we both worked in Kentucky, lived in Indiana, then moved to Missouri. Then this year I did them on Turbo Tax mostly because I was afraid that we were going to owe a lot and wanted to be prepared. It turns out that we got really close to the same amount again (and it was a refund!). Looks like I'll be doing our taxes from now on. Meanwhile, we left Liam at his friend Ellie's house to play while we did the tax thing. They both snotted everywhere and played with their Curious Georges. What a pair! Lydia also babysits another baby who is 4 months old and Liam liked watching her and waving at her. Lydia also made me a ring sling! One of the things I want for this next baby is a new baby carrier. I had a couple with Liam but he hated them. I asked Lydia last week if she had a good tutorial on how to make one and suggestions of fabric to use and she told me she would have one ready for me when we came this week! She's such a blessing to me. :-) Caleb tried it on when we got home and Liam hung out there for a little bit before he got too wiggly. I'm not sure that it was on exactly right up at the shoulder but Caleb said he wasn't uncomfortable.
Saturday - My very first best friend, Nikki, came to visit! She and I were best friends through elementary school and have stayed friends ever since. The last time I got to see her was when I was pregnant with Liam, so it's been awhile! We always seem to be able to pick up where we left off.
We went outside with Liam for a little bit. Caleb had filled in a big hole in our backyard that looks like it is where a tree used to be. He had covered the area with grass seed and needed to water it. Liam was so excited about the hose. Our old house didn't have any outdoor water access.
Some other stuff from this week:
Liam's "so big" has gotten much bigger. I guess that means my baby is growing up. :-(
I love this smile.
Sometimes he tries to suck out his own snot.
One last thing before I go, I just wanted to say hi to my sister's boyfriend, Jim, just in case he reads this.
