Week of September 16

Sorry for the delay in getting this posted.  We've been a little busy.  Hang on tight for next week's post too, we are in the midst of another crazy but good week.  :-)

Sunday:
We went to Burger King and this is how the girl spelled my name.  I should keep a list of the unique spellings people give my name.

Monday:
This is the book I have to read for my seminary wives class.  It’s a really good fictional book about a girl’s journey through her Christian life.  I spent most of my night trying to get this finished.

Tuesday:
Caleb’s dad and some guys from his church picked Caleb up and headed out on a quick road trip.  Since Caleb isn’t a fan of me painting my nails, guess what I did after he left that morning?  Yep.  Painted my nails.  And then Caleb ended up coming to eat lunch with me before he left so he caught me.  :-) Thursday night when he got home the first thing he asked was if I was taking it off that night.  Sigh.  It was fun while it lasted.

Wednesday:

It was a chilly morning and it was the first morning this season that I needed these guys on my feet.

This is how awesome my parents are.  So Wednesday night on my way home from work I was thinking about if I should go get some fast food for dinner.  I had thought about maybe getting White Castles since Caleb doesn’t care for them a whole lot and he wasn't going to be home.  Anyway, since I’m such a cheap skate I just went home and figured I could eat something there.  I got the mail and there was a card from my parents with a gift card to White Castles and a coupon for a free hamburger!  That could not have come at a more perfect time.  :-)

Thursday:

A co-worker and I took a detour on our way back from running an errand and stopped at Starbucks.  Since I’m horrible at ordering coffee drinks and the man didn’t understand what I was asking for, I ended up with a vanilla bean frappuccino.  It was perfect though because then I didn’t have to worry about making sure the coffee was decaf (my heart can’t really handle caffeine anymore).

Then I got to meet this guy.  He's a friend of Caleb's, but Caleb said people aren't supposed to know they are friends.  I'm not sure what that means.

Friday:

The arch!  Home!

Caleb told me to turn around and look at the big fluffy cloud that looked like a sheep.

I like this boy.  :-)  He even put up with me reading to him a lot while we were driving.

I got to stop and see my friend Lydia!!  We didn't get to stay long because we were on our way to eat dinner with Caleb's family, but I at least got to hug her.  :-)  She gave me some awesome new music that I love love love.

Country sunsets are the best.
We saw three of these signs.  It's blurry because we were driving but they say "Harvest Season, watch for farm vehicles".  When Caleb saw that he said "Oh, it's great to be home!!"

Saturday:

Playing with this lil guy is always fun.  :-)

Caleb holding the new nephew.  He's so cuddly!

:-D

Could either of these two possibly get any cuter???

Week of September 9

Sunday:

I finished up some yogurt.  Such delicious stuff!  Except I learned that you can’t freeze it and thaw it back out.  I don’t know what exactly happened but it doesn’t have a pleasant texture.  :-/

Sunday night I attempted to make some homemade peanut butter cups.  I definitely used too much chocolate and not enough peanut butter.  And I forgot butter.  They are still tasty though.  :-)

Monday:

Caleb and I went for a walk Monday night and he was killing the family of spiders outside of our door.  There are also some spiders living by one of our bedroom windows and they are not exactly tiny spider.  *shivers*

Here we are walking down by the river.  It was perfect weather.

Tuesday:

Definitely sleeping with the windows open kind of weather.  I love it!

Wednesday:

Just  some advertisements around town.  There’s another billboard that says “My boss is a J-E-R-K.”  I’m not quite sure what the deal is with those billboards, but I guess it made someone feel better inside.

Thursday:
No pictures.  :-(  I’ll make up for it with Friday’s pics.

Friday

Caleb got off work early and we had a much needed date night.  We went to Gary’s on Spring, which is where we went to for our 3 year anniversary.  A lady at work gave me a $50 gift certificate (one from a be our guest promo on wdrb.com) after I had given her some extra tickets I had.  I was so excited because they have bison burgers and I love bison burgers.  Caleb was going to get the 12 oz Bison Ribeye since he didn’t get to order it last time.  When our server came up to the table she told us that they were out of 2 things on the menu, and one of them was the bison ribeye.  Sad!  She suggested the 8 oz filet and said that it was really good.  He went ahead and got it but it was about half of the size of my fist and it came with a little bit of decorative mashed potatoes and some green bean looking things.  I wanted to take a picture of it because that was a crazy small steak for $32 and I figured it would be worth documenting, but that is a pretty fancy restaurant and I didn’t want to look like a poor nerd in there all excited about an expensive dinner.  Anyway, Caleb liked it but he said it didn’t fill him up.

After dinner we were greeted by a pretty sunset.

Then we headed to wal-mart to pick up a bean bag chair.  I found one on pinterest that I wanted to make because I thought it would be fun to create a reading area in our second bedroom because that room gets the most sun and it’s a good place for reading.  Caleb found a 132” (circumference) bean bag chair on walmart.com that was was a really good price and I definitely couldn’t make one for that cheap.  It's not as cute as I was planning on making one, but there was less room for error due to my novice sewing skiils  We had it shipped to the store for free shipping and now we had to go pick up the monster.
Here’s Caleb pretending like the thing is heavy (it’s not).

Then he had the joy of trying to fit it into the car.

Then the fun of trying to get it up our narrow stairwell.

And I got to enjoy it.  J  It’s so comfy!

Saturday:

I was planning on posting a picture of a skirt I was working on all day, but I was having a hard time with it (It looked so easy on pinterest!!) so hopefully this week I can finish it up and then you can finally see it.

Oh and in case any of you were wondering, Oscar finally finished off his fish friends today.  Except some of them laid eggs and at one point this week I had at least 12 baby fish but today I only counted 7.  Hopefully he will eat those as snacks sometime soon so I can clean his aquarium.  :-)  I kind of got more than I bargained for when I asked for 5 fish.  In the end, I wound up with 19!

There’s lot I am looking forward to this upcoming week!  But  you have to wait until next weekend to find out why.  :-) Oh the suspense, right?

Week of September 2

Whoo!  What a week!

Sunday:
My parents and sister were still here and we went out to a Mexican restaurant for lunch after church before they headed back home.  It happened to be raining and my hair and moisture do not mix well.

Monday:
Since I was hanging out with my parents and sister all weekend, Monday was my day to catch up on housework.  I got some homemade rolls going for my hubby.  I also finished up a homemade yogurt masterpiece.  Thanks to a facebook friend, she helped me along with steps and tips on making yogurt and gave me lots of good tips for making yogurt and it is delicious!  Score!  I didnt get any pictures to document it, but I'm in the process of making some more that i'll share pictures of.  :-)

To go along with the homemade theme, I made this:

Any guesses?  If you guessed grated soap, you're right!  I grated some soap to use in making some liquid hand soap.  I realize hand soap doesn't cost much, but I grated two bars about a year ago and we are still using the same batch of soap!  We are getting close to the end and since I had the time, I went ahead and made some more.  The soap is definitely different than the soap you would buy in the store, but once you get used to it, it's great!

Tuesday:
This cop car pulled into the parking lot shortly after I did on Tuesday and I thought I was going to get to see a stake out and arrest.  Turns out that I set my hopes too high and he was just meeting someone there to give them a ride.

Wednesday:
We had an in-tents storm roll through, but the sunset going home was quite pretty.  As always, pictures don't do justice.

Thursday:
I don't know what it is with rocks, but my turtle likes to carry them around in his mouth.  I think he found the only purple rock in his aquarium.

Then I saw the weiner mobile when I was out walking!!

Thursday night I had my seminary wives class and got to hang out with this handsome fellow for a little bit inbetween work and class.  He even bought me dinner from Taco Bell.  He knows the way to my heart.

Friday:
The Bubble Truck showed up at work!  He does birthday parties and fundraising event type things and just has this truck that blows bubbles!  He also has some other things he uses to make some ginormous bubbles.

Friday night was Southern's fall festival.  I had been looking forward to going, but Caleb texted me around 5ish letting me know that he would be working late.  Later on he told me he probably wouldn't be able to make it.  I went ahead and went without him and met up with a girl from my seminary wives class.  She introduced me to one of her friends and we hung out for the evening.  I didn't get any pictures of the night because, well, I just met these people I was hanging out with.  :-)  I didn't want to seem creepy.  Because I'm not.

Saturday:
My homemade yogurt I finished on Monday ended up tasting like plain yogurt even though I had added some vanilla to the milk while it was cooking.  My facebook friend suggested I add some honey to sweeten it up.  Holy moly delicious!  The best part is that I have some local honey so it's even better for my allergies and immune system in this Ohio River Valley area where I seem to always have a sniffle or two in my day.  Since I have gone through quite a bit of honey this week, we headed down to the farmer's market today to find some more.  It's expensive stuff, although not much more than buying it from the store, but if it will keep me from being miserable in the spring with allergies, there's no price tag on that.  The lady who sold it to me this time told me that this honey has a bit of a smokey flavor to it.  I'm not quite sure how I feel about that but she said her husband uses it to sweeten his yogurt all the time and it's perfect for that.  We shall see.  It better be good because I bought two pounds of it.

I got to hang out with a friend from Target today for lunch that I haven't seen in months.  I love getting to hang out with her! We are both fairly busy and it's hard to find time where we can both hang out.   I also failed to take a picture of us hanging out.  Fail.  But hey, we were doing good just getting to hang out!

I went to the pet store today and bought my turtle friend some fishies!  I bought them with the intention of him eating them.  I asked for 5 of these feeder fish just to start him off since they were 5/$1 and the girl ended up giving me 7 because two of them were teeny. When I first put the bag of fish in the water to get the water temps the same, he definitely seemed leery of them.  Once I dumped the bag into the water, he started trying to hide behind his water pump.  I don't know what his deal is, but tonight I did see him starting to chase one of the little bitty ones around.  I dont know if he just wanted to play, or if he was just trying to terrorize it, or if he wanted to eat it.  As of last head count, all 7 were accounted for.  Apparently he watched Finding Nemo when I'm not home and thinks that fish are friends, not food.  Lame.

Maybe next week I can report on officially having less pets.  :-)

Week of August 26

Sunday:
Caleb got to lead worship during a song at church on Sunday.  Since leaving our previous church where he got to lead worship every Sunday, he hasn't had many opportunities to do so.  :-)

Monday:
Gas prices went up because of the hurricane.  :-(
Tuesday and Wednesday went undocumented.

Thursday:
Before my seminary wives class Caleb and I went to the bookstore.  I still just have to giggle everytime I see a  Terry Coker Charles Spurgeon  bobblehead.  How many people can say that they have a bobblehead that looks just like their youth pastor?
Also, we had a blue moon!  I got a text from Caleb reminding me to look at it.  I love his love for all things nature.  :-)

Looks more like a planet, really.
Friday:
I was greeted by part of the University of Louisville marching band when I arrived to work.  I later got to go outside and watch them play for the morning show.

My mom and I made an eclair for my sister's and my turtle's combined birthday.  I also drew said birthdayees on the eclair.

I got a new plant to add to my plant family.  I took some little sprouts from my boss's plant.  :-)  This plant now resides in our bathroom.  Why?  Why not when you have such a large bathroom.  And I hear that they are supposed to help keep mold from growing.  We don't really have a problem with mold, but this will help keep any from growing.  :-)

Saturday
My family came to visit!  I'll post some pictures with my parental units later.

I did a channel scan on our tv the other day because we are supposed to be able to get another tv station that was previously not readily available in this area.  Well, we got some new channels but not the channel I was looking for.  I think we got about three new channels and they are mostly religious channels.  I'm not bashing religious channels, but how can you not laugh when you see a back massage chain down the aisle (pictured on the right side of the picture) and they are offering miracle breakthrough oil. I assume it's to use on the person's back who is in front of you.  Seems legit.

Sorry for the bad picture of the tv.  We have an old tv, but I can't complain for a $3 garage sale find

I can't believe my parents and sister already have to leave tomorrow.  :-(  Why does time have to go so fast when they are here??
