November 30 - December 23

A weekly update that never got posted but instead added to little by little has now become a 3 1/2 week update with approximately 76 pictures.  You're welcome.

Week of November 30
Sunday - Seth came to our church.  After church Liam enjoyed looking at his animal book with his uncle.

Monday - Liam and I were both sick with a cold and Caleb had to work. We had lots of cuddle time and lots of Netflix time. I love when cuddle time involves hand holding.  :-)

Tuesday  -  Liam and I had an appointment in Columbia that morning.  After we got done we went and met up with Christa, her boys, and Aunt Rachel at Target.

Friday - This week I ordered Liam a Little Tykes slide off of Amazon.  They had a really good deal on it and I wanted something that Liam could climb on inside.  He loves to climb and be active, but weather and my energy levels don't always meet Liam's wants as far as play time outside.  We don't have a fenced in back yard and we live on a busy street so I have to keep a very close eye on him at all times.  Anyway, especially now that it's getting colder he can play on his slide inside!  It showed up on our front porch on Friday.  I got it out, but he was more interested in the box.  Even when Caleb came home, I found them both playing in the box.

I know this picture isn't very good.  I almost deleted it but then decided to lighten it up on Picasa and found this little gem.  How cute is he?  This was when Caleb was chasing him through the box.
Liam fits slightly better than Caleb does.

Saturday - Caleb woke up feeling a little crummy.  I think he might have ended up with a touch of the flu that was going around.  A lot of people from our church had it, but he didn't have it as bad as them.  He just had some chest congestion, a headache, and a runny nose for a few days.  He checked his temperature several times because he thought he felt feverish, but he never had a fever.  I kept some OnGuard oil and me and Liam and we didn't end up with the sickies.

More pictures from this week:

"Mom, the broccoli stops here."
He loves his avocados and playing peek a boo while eating.  It's not quite the best combo.
He loves playing in this booster seat.  He gets stuck in it almost every time.
Bananas make great hair gel, wouldn't you agree?
Amy gave Liam a little fire truck to ride on but he just likes to shove things in the seat and climb on top.  He will push it down the sidewalk if we take it outside.  I have a video but this blog is already getting really long.
Here's you a video of Liam cutting a rug.  He's got some moves.

Week of December 7

Sunday -  Sunday morning before church I told Caleb that I absolutely needed to get a picture to put on a Christmas card.  I kept forgetting to get one when we had opportunities for someone else to take one.  My parents were coming to church that morning so I thought about having them take one after church, but Liam is usually tired and crabby after church.  He had woke up in a really good mood so I thought I would just try to set up my tripod and use my camera timer.

This is what the majority of them looked like.
 So Caleb gave up.
Out of 42 pictures, this is the only one where he was smiling.
I settled on this one for our Christmas card.

Monday - Caleb was still sick and really not feeling too great.  He called in to work and ended up sleeping until 10 am.  I also wasn't feeling too great.  I had an awful headache all day and I also was very tired.  I think it's from not taking my prenatal vitamin for almost 2 weeks.  I think there is something in that vitamin that is not in the other vitamins that I'm taking that gives me energy.  Caleb was so wonderful and let me take a nap that afternoon.  I felt bad since he was the one at home sick, but I was having a pretty rough day too.

Tuesday - Liam has been OBSESSED with his Clifford book and also a Halloween Corduroy book that we got from Parents As Teachers.  It's the only two books he wants to read and he wants to read them over and over and over and over again.

We went to the library to get some new Clifford books.  When we got home I tried to read some to him and he wasn't interested.  He only wanted those two books.  Eventually after a few days of trying, he would let me read half of a new Clifford book to him.

Caleb tried reading some to him.  He was able to get through them if he held them out as far as possible.

Wednesday - We had a business meeting at church that night and I think it's probably longest business meeting in history.  Ok, not really, but it was long.  Liam was antsy and someone took him to the nursery for me.  I should probably bite my tongue on here, but let me just give some helpful advice.  If you take someone's child from them, the mother does not appreciate you getting on to her for checking on her child because you have years of experience.  As a mother, I have every right to check on my child.  Especially when said volunteer is over the age of 80.  I don't mind people helping me out with Liam, but I'm also slightly picky on who I am comfortable leaving him with.  Ok, I'm done.

Thursday - We had a man visit our church this past Sunday and he asked Caleb if the three of us would come visit them because he wanted to talk to us about the church.  I normally wouldn't go on a visit like that unless I had someone to watch Tiny-Tornado-Hands for me, but ask and ye shall receive.  :-)  They have a granddaughter slightly younger than my Little Bit so they enjoyed having a tiny tot around.  We ended up having a really good visit with them!

Friday -The library started doing an Itsy Bitsy Story time for ages 0-2.  Liam and I went a couple of months ago and we were finally able to make it again.  It's right during Liam's normal nap time but I thought it would be good for us to get out of the house and have something to do.  I woke Liam up about 5 minutes before story time started and was getting him ready to go, then all of a sudden I hear a knock on the door.  I wasn't going to answer (mostly because I'm a chicken and freak out when someone unexpectedly knocks on my door) but they knocked several times and I knew that we would be leaving as soon as possible and didn't want an awkward encounter.  I went ahead and answered the door and it was our backyard neighbor.  Her car battery was dead and she needed a jump.  She only asked me if I had jumper cables.  She told me she knew how to jump a car, she just didn't have jumper cables.  I'm thinking in my head....ok so if all you need is jumper cables, what are you planning on jumping your battery with??  I told her we were just getting ready to leave but I would call my husband for her and have him come home from his office hours to help her.  She called us saints and then stood there and talked to me for a few minutes (she introduced herself to me and asked my name....I'm pretty sure we have met about a dozen times...) so now we were really late to story time.  It's from 10:30-11 and it was now about 10:45.  I couldn't not go after having just woke Liam up so we went anyway.  After we walked in Liam walks right on up to the librarian and stands directly in front of the book she is reading to the group.  I was trying to get him to come sit in my lap but several moms told me to leave him alone because they can't get their kids to interact at all so maybe watching Liam would help them.  Ok, child, do your thing.  After story time was over I was cleaning up all of the books Liam so graciously dumped on me and I took my eyes off of Liam for a split second.  When I looked up I saw him just as he was walking out of the children's room.  I jumped up and ran after him.  Once I got out of the children's room I didn't see him and then I saw the ladies behind the front desk laughing.  Liam had followed the librarian out of the room and into her office.  He certainly is a social butterfly.

Liam and I have been watching lots of Christmas specials and movies on Netflix.  It's kind of gotten me into the Christmas spirit and made me really want to decorate and put up our tree.  The only problem is that the majority of our decorations aren't child proof and I don't have good places to put them to keep them out of reach.  I kept trying to think of some way to put up a Christmas tree and the most headache free thing I could think of is our Charlie Brown tree.

Friday night Caleb's parents and brother came to visit.  His parents hadn't been to our house in awhile.  Liam gets so excited any time we talk about Grandma and Grandpa (on either side).

Saturday -  Our ladies at church had a cookie exchange.  We all made 3 dozen cookies then exchanged them. We also made several boxes of cookies for nursing home and home bound people.  There were no boys allowed so I got to go and have some child-free fun!

More pictures from this week:

Liam loves to eat with a spoon.  He shovels it in, but at least he's dainty about it.
Avocados are so messy but he loves them.
Sitting in a box reading a book about veterinary care.  Best way to spend an evening, right?
We got a card from Ellie's family!  He loved it.  I had to take it away from him before he loved it to death.
A few days later I found him still swooning over Ellie's picture.
He was so zoned out watching Clifford and munching on his piggies.

Don't you watch tv like this too?

This hat.  He puts it on all the time.

Liam got stuck on his new slide.

Week of December 14

Monday - Our Christmas cards came.  Of course they would come the day after I had hoped to pass them out at church.  Oh well, that was my fault for not getting them done sooner.

Tuesday - Christa texted me and asked me what we were doing that day.  She had mentioned possibly going to Bass Pro for her kids to see Santa.  With every thing going on lately, I had wanted to go to get Liam's picture with Santa, but it had kind of slipped my mind.  I told her we needed to go so we met up.  Liam didn't mind Santa at all.  He didn't smile for the picture, but he voluntarily walked right on up to him and sat on his lap.  His cousins were a bit more skiddish.  I'm interested to see if this time next year Liam will be as social and outgoing as he is now.

Liam liked the hunting game at Bass Pro.  :-)
 How cute is he?
Liam liked watching his cousins play a monster truck game.  He just like to push the button that made the trucks honk.
Watching the fish at Bass Pro.
 Ol' Santy Claus.
After Bass Pro we went to walmart.  Nehemiah was showing Liam is  leap pad.

While we were at Bass Pro, I was finally able to find a Christmas present for Caleb!  I was pretty proud of myself.  But more on that later.

I also started a painting project.  I can't post about it because I don't want to ruin the Christmas surprise, but basically it took up every spare and half-way free moment that I had for 3 days straight.  But I finished it!

Friday -  Centralia had their annual tractor parade.  Basically several farmers from the area decorate their tractors or other farm equipment with lights and stuff.  We didn't get to go last year because we were just getting back into town from somewhere when it was going on and Liam needed to nurse and go to bed.  He was also only 4 months old and could have cared less.  This year it was very chilly.  We wrapped Liam up in a blanket though and headed out.  He watched some of it, but he wasn't super interested this year either.  He did like the giant Rudolph blow up that was on one of the trailers.
 Brrrrr
This was the tractor that was decorated to look like Thomas the Train.  My phone doesn't take great pictures at night.
The side view.  It was pulling an ear of corn made out of milk jugs.

Saturday -  Caleb's Grandma Connie had her Christmas celebration.  It's about a 2 hour drive for us.  We had a good time there with that side of the family.  Caleb's Uncle and Aunt own an antique store right next door to Caleb's grandma's house.  Christa and I went over there to look around.  I found a ring there a few years ago that I really liked and actually fit my tiny fingers!  We were looking at jewelry again this time and I found a ring with a purple stone in it that I really really liked and it had a tiny band!  The only thing I didn't like about it was the price tag, but Aunt Paula came over and told me I could have it!  I'm pretty excited about it.

Liam has a fascination with dogs right now.  He was on the floor playing with this stuffed critter.

Caleb got his deer head back.  He says it looks good.  I have other opinions, but that's ok.  As long as I don't have to look at it every day I don't mind.

Here's some other pictures from this week.

Liam got himself "stuck" in this laundry basket while I was folding clothes.  He stepped right into it but then was afraid of tipping over when he tried to get out.
Sometimes Liam likes to wake up at 6 am.  This is how we both feel about it.
Liam loves watching Curious George with his dad.
 Selfie.
 Sugar from his dad.
I like his baby snuggles.

Part of the week of December 21

Sunday - We had a church Christmas program during the morning service.  Liam was a little goat at the manager scene.  Stinkin. Adorable.  He was so good.  :-)  I've never seen a goat with such chubby cheeks.

Look at his little goaty self.

These were all of the kids in the program.
Liam also enjoyed sitting with his best buddy, Wes, while he wasn't performing his heart out. ;-)

I didn't have a part in the program other than getting Liam ready.  They had a ladies ensemble that I could have been a part of, but during this first trimester I get out of breath so easily.  Sometimes just eating dinner gets me out of breath.  Some Sundays I can hardly get through a verse of a hymn during congregational singing so I didn't think it would be the best idea to commit to anything like that.  That was a good thing because we ended up having a nursery incident between Liam and another little boy whose family was visiting.

Toddlers are toddlers and very unpredictable and they go through weird phases.  I still ended up leaving the nursery with Liam because he was terrified of the little boy and so we went in to go watch the singing and let him sit with people that he trusted and felt comfortable with.  He calmed down pretty fast after that.

That afternoon our next door neighbor to the side of us came over and knocked on the door.  She had found a blanket and wanted to know if it was ours.  I told her no, then she asked me if she had heard right that I was pregnant.  I asked her how she knew and she said her husband had told her.  Welcome to Small Town, USA, Melissa.

Sunday afternoon Caleb and I exchanged Christmas presents.  One of his presents hadn't arrived yet, but I got him a cast iron skillet.   He has been wanting one for awhile (little did I know that my mom had some unwanted ones in her cabinet) and when I was at Bass Pro this week I saw them and knew that it would be a good practical gift that he could use and that he wanted.

He got me this necklace.  I love it!!

Liam got some Daddy snuggles Sunday night.
Liam also got really excited to talk to his jaguar.  He kept setting it down and smiling and talking to it.
Monday morning I had my 12 week appointment at my OB.  Everything looks great!  Caleb had to go in to work late so he could watch Liam for me.  Caleb was telling me that Liam was so tired out in the waiting room that he was just laying on the floor.  At one point he was laying right in front of the check-in window and Caleb had to get up and get him when some other patients came in because he wouldn't move for them.

When we dropped Caleb off at work Liam and I went in and looked around at Orscheln.  Liam found a bin of magic blankets!
 And some farm toys.
When we got home he had some mail from his St Louis grandparents.  They sent him an amazon gift card!
Liam hadn't watch his What's in the Bible dvds lately so I put in the Christmas one and he was glued.
Monday afternoon we had our monthly Parents As Teachers visit.  Liam was pretty tired from not getting a long morning nap so he wasn't very talkative and playful.

Tuesday morning tower building.  Liam always has so much fun stacking our trash.
He was also super tired all day on Tuesday.  I would find him laying down in random places.  At this point he was wiggling around on the floor like a worm.
 He's my Clifford watching buddy.
I know he loves when I use him as a pillow.

Tuesday evening Caleb opened his present from Liam because it just came in the mail.  I personalized a journal on Shutterfly with a quote I found on his pinterest page (props to his sister for pointing me towards pinterest to figure out what to put on it).  He liked it!  Then we let Liam open his Christmas presents.  He got his slide early, but today he got his quiet books that I made for him a few months ago.  I think he's still a little young for them.  He didn't quite understand which parts were supposed to come off and which weren't.  I'm sure he'll be able to figure some of them out in a couple of months.

 Phew.  That was a lot.
