July 19 - August 4, 2015

Week of July 19

Sunday - Liam had a donut for breakfast.

That beard.  :-D

Monday - I had to take Cade to the WIC office for his first visit.  They weighed him and he was 9 lbs 12 oz.  2 weeks prior at his 3 day old check up his weight was down to 7 lbs 12 oz...that means that he gained 2 lbs in 2 weeks!  It's no wonder this kid eats every 1 1/2 - 2 hours!

After WIC we went to Target.  Cade also really wanted to know what Starbucks tastes like so we went there for me to have a drink so he could taste it later.  The things I do for him.  ;-)  (I don't know why Cade looks so weird in this pic. The head rest maybe?)

Friday - Cade is having some tummy issues so I decided to try to start going dairy free to see if it makes a difference.  I love having milk in the morning and a bowl of ice cream usually gets in my belly at some point during the day.  Cheese?  Love it.  Going dairy free isn't exactly easy but if it makes Cade's belly feel better it's worth it.  (Note:  After a week and a half of limited dairy, there's no difference in Cade's belly.  The best thing I have found to help him is gripe water)

On Friday we went to Caleb's parents' house for a family get together.

Liam napped on the way.  Could he be any more precious?

We took a family picture in front of Tim's old truck.

Saturday - My parents came to visit!  It was good timing because Caleb went to Columbia to go see some insect super hero movie with some friends (can you say snooze fest??) and I went to a bridal shower for someone from church.  Since my parents were in town I got to go child free.  Woo hoo!

Week of July 26

Sunday - So in the past couple of years I have jumped on the essential oil bandwagon.  Most recently I signed up with a company as a distributor so I could get the whole sale pricing.  They have a blend that I bought that is called "Peace and Calming".  A couple of weeks ago Liam was having a rough day because of being tired along with new brother transitions.  Every little thing turned into a melt down for him.  I gave him a bath and put the Peace and Calming behind his ears and he didn't have another melt down the rest of the day.  Coincidence?  Maybe.  Then this Sunday Liam was all wound up just from having his routine thrown off because of it being a Sunday along with grandparents being here.  He was running around church like a hooligan before church started Sunday evening.  Instead of fighting him to sit quietly during church I just took him into the nursery and let him play.  While he was playing I rubbed this oil behind his ears to test it out again.  After church we went to McDonalds with a few people.  Normally the more tired he gets the crabbier he is.  Tonight, however, while we were eating Liam was so chill.  He even laid his head down on the table for a second.  People were commenting about how he had lost all of his energy.  This is now an oil that I carry in my purse at all times.  :-)

Monday - Monday night we had girlfriends cafe at church.  I hadn't been the past couple of months because usually by that time of the evening I wasn't feeling up to going since I was pregnant.  We made some encouragement cards and they are really cute!  For the second time within the past few days I got to be child free again!

Tuesday - We had a parents as teachers visit.  It was the first one since Cade was born.  She brought a sensory bin full of cereal and Liam loved it.  She even had some hotwheels cars hidden in the cereal and once he found those he was in heaven.  He even hid one and didn't give it back.

Wednesday - I had to go to my doctor for my post partum visit.  Right after I got there I got a call from Christa asking me if I was at the doctor.  I told her I was and she said she was on her way in but had to stop by the lab first and she thought she saw our van in the parking lot.  I find it rather amusing how many appointments we have had close to the same time.  The majority of them we never planned on having at the same time.  The doctor's office was running behind so at least we had each others company.  I am pleased to say that (Lord willing) we will no longer be having any appointments coincide.  Want to know why?  I'm not pregnant anymore. *sigh of relief* :-)  I couldn't help but sit there and see all of those pregnant women going in and out of the office and think to myself "I'm glad that's not me".  I love the outcome of pregnancy but those nine months are not terribly enjoyable for me.

Thursday - Thursday evening we went to go visit Mrs Dot again.  This time we got to visit her at home!  She has a box of toys in her closet that Liam thoroughly enjoyed spreading all over her apartment.

I'm amazed at the differences between Liam and Cade.  I realize they are different people, but I figured Cade would be a lot like Liam.  Cade is such a different sleeper.  Once he falls asleep he is a sound sleeper, but he just doesn't sleep as long of stretches as Liam did.  Also, Cade has decided that he doesn't want to be swaddled anymore.  Liam loved being swaddled to sleep and I struggled getting him away from the swaddle when he outgrew the size large ones around 4 months.  Cade started grunting and fussing and wiggling whenever I would swaddle him.  Thursday I started putting him to bed without it and he fell asleep so much faster.  Go figure.  One less transition to dread in the future!

Friday - Caleb went and got the van inspected.  It didn't pass so now we have the joy of getting new tires!  Yay!  -_-  Some parts of being an adult stink.

Saturday - Caleb had Bible study Saturday morning and when he got home we left and headed for Ewing.  A friend of the family who they used to go to church with passed away so we went up there for the funeral.  Caleb enjoyed getting to see several people he hadn't seen in a long time.  His grandparents and aunt and uncle were also there so it was good to get to see all of them again.

The church has a big gym area and there were people who had volunteered to watch kids during the funeral so Liam got to go watch Veggie Tales and run around like a hooligan with all of them.  I know he had a lot of fun.  When they brought him out to me after the funeral he put his arms back out to the lady who had been watching him and wanted to go back and play again.

Cade loved getting snuggles from all of Caleb's family, including Great Grandma Donna.

After we left Ewing we realized that Cade wasn't going to make it all the way home without needing to eat.  We stopped in Hannibal to see Ethan and Lydia (and Ellie of course) and so I could feed Cade.  We ended up visiting longer than expected so even after we left there Cade still didn't make it home without needing to eat.  Fortunately I still had a bottle of formula in the diaper bag that the hospital had sent us home with so I opened that up and reached my arm to the back and fed it to Cade.

We didn't get home until about 10:30 so Liam didn't make it to bed until 11.  Cade had a rough night that night so I was up with him 5 times between needing to eat and tummy issues.  Exhausted is becoming my new norm.  I wouldn't trade it though.  My two boys are worth every sleepless night.  :-)

Week of August 2

Sunday - Liam has lots of buddies at church. He loves playing with them, especially when they play cars with him.

Since it was the first Sunday of the month, our evening service was "Sing and share" so  instead of a sermon anybody can get up and share a song or testimony or whatever they want to share.  We ended up having a lot of visitors at church.  I think we probably had just about as many or even more visitors than church members present.  That was exciting!  :-)  Although Liam didn't hardly sit with us at all because he was too busy going and sitting with his church buddies and lining up his hotwheels cars next to them.

Also, Liam still loves to preach.

Sunday night into Monday around 1 am I got up with Cade to feed him.  Cade still sleeps in our room so I usually take him to his room to feed him so I don't keep Caleb awake.  As soon as I got in there and sat down in the recliner I heard the wind pick up.  It kept getting stronger and stronger and stronger.  I started sort of freaking out wondering if we should be taking cover.  I pulled up my weather app and we weren't under any sort of warning and it wasn't even raining.  Right then our power went out.  Fortunately I usually always grab my phone before I feed Cade so it gives me something to do and keeps me awake, but I didn't want to turn on the flashlight on my phone and completely drain my battery.  Fortunately the power going out woke Caleb up and he came and rescued me with a flashlight. The power ended up being out for 3 hours.  I read in the newspaper that there was a tree that completely fell over onto the power line on the street that runs perpendicular to ours.

Monday - My Ant and Unc were going to be traveling from St. Louis back to Kansas and were going to be passing right through Columbia.  They asked if I wanted to meet them for lunch.  Of course I did!  Caleb had to work so it was just me and my tots.  They brought Cade and Liam presents.  One of Liam's presents was a pack of hotwheels cars.  They kept him thoroughly entertained while we ate.

He loves his new Batman from Ant!

After we left I took the boys by Orscheln to visit Caleb.  It was his first day back to work since Cade was born and some of his coworkers hadn't gotten to meet Cade yet.  I think we spread baby fever pretty bad among all of the girls.  :-)

Tuesday - I took some pictures of Cade with his one month sticker on.  I failed at getting a picture with his "just born" sticker on, so I made myself get pictures before he got too old for this one.  It's quite a bit more challenging getting pictures of Cade than it was with Liam because now Liam always wants in on the pictures.

 Just to tickle his fancy.
Since Cade seems to be growing so fast I weighed him to see just how big he was now.  He weighs 12 1/2 lbs!!  Our pediatrician office gives us cards that have measurements and percentiles and medicine dosages on them.  I kept all of Liam's so I went and looked at his.  At 2.5 months Liam weighed as much as Cade does now right at one month.  Cade has almost outgrown his 0-3 month clothes and is about to move to size 2 diapers after we finish up these last few size 1s.  Why can't he (healthily) stay tiny for a long time??  He's also wearing me out because in order to grow this fast he is still nursing very frequently around the clock.  I have never been so perpetually exhausted as I am right now.

Some more pictures from these two weeks:

When he makes a mess I make him clean it up.
 Sweet baby

Even though the swing doesn't swing, the mobile and lights still works....except it fascinated the wrong kid.

One of Liam's favorite places to sit and watch tv
Possibly one of my favorite pictures of them.
This OCD kid lining up his food before he can eat it.
 Sharing his cars
Sharing even more cars (we can't have Cade getting bored, you know)

Liam gets in and out of his car seat by himself (he can't work the buckle yet fortunately) but sometimes he gets too excited to get out and forgets to pull his arms out from the arm straps.

I was trying to get a good picture of the three of us but Liam was crazy.  LOL

This is also in the running for one of my favorite pictures.
Now he shares animal crackers too!

The note Caleb left for me one morning in the bath tub
One morning while I was straightening my hair in the bathroom Liam kept wanting to play with the foam letters in the tub but he couldn't reach them.  Instead of climbing into the bath tub he tried to take the easy way and just lean over the tub.  He got stuck and his toes were just barely touching the floor.  I already saved his hiney once so when he did it again I made him stay there and wait for me to go get my phone to take a picture.  I'm that mom.
