I also found this little hat. I didn't get it though but it sure looked cute on Liam.
Then we went back to Caleb's parents' house for the rest of the afternoon.
Playing cars
Flying!
Racing!
And "changing the fluids" in this car.
Tuesday - Liam's cloth diapers have started getting a little smelly, especially since I am still experimenting to figure out what works best for cleaning them. So I stripped them with Dawn, oxyclean, and bleach. While I was working on them, Liam decided to shut me in the closet with the washer and dryer. I was afraid of knocking him over so I had to wait for him to lose interest and go play with something else before I could escape.
Liam got a new Melissa and Doug chunky puzzle from Pampers Rewards. What was the first animal he pulled out?
The giraffe, of course! This little boy loves his giraffes.Taking a nap with Pop.
Somehow this face always appears when I'm eating animal crackers.
I took Liam outside to swing and saw this nasty critter! I refused to let Liam swing because I didn't want it attacking my face. After I came in and posted it to facebook Caleb and lots of other facebook friends told me that it's not actually a bug, just the exoskeleton of a larval cicada (or something like that). But still. Gross.
Caleb got adventurous with Liam's new puzzle pieces. He figured out how to stack all of them, except the giraffe. He is pretty proud of his efforts. When Liam got up from his nap he saw his dad's creation and could hardly wait for me to change his diaper because all he wanted to do was go knock it down.
He just grows up too fast. It only took him a couple of days to grow this mustache.
Wednesday - I got all caught up on laundry so we could pack for our vacation! We have been wanting to get away somewhere for awhile. We have really missed our Indiana/Kentucky friends. We haven't been back to visit since we moved away over a year ago. We had plans to stay with our friends, David and Bethany, but their poor boy got sick at last minute so we had to make a change of plans and stay with the Young family.
Thursday - we drove six hours to New Albany, Indiana and Liam did awesome in the car! We stopped one time for lunch and he slept a good chunk of the time.
Liam has become quite attached to this blanket.
We had dinner with the Youngs and then Heather and I went for a walk while the guys and the kids played basketball. It was great to catch up with her! It was nice to be able to chit chat as one pastor's wife to another. :-)
Thursday night was probably one of the hardest night we have ever had with Liam. He was sleeping in the same room as us and I think we were waking him up every time one of us would roll over in bed. He can be a really light sleeper sometimes. He went to bed at 10, then was awake from about 2 am until 5 am and then awake for good around 7 am. We were taking turns with him. I was able to get him asleep at one point but then I had to go to the bathroom and me leaving the room woke him up. -_-
Friday - Caleb slept in since he was up the most with Liam. I had plans to go to the tv station I used to work at that morning but Liam was in no mood to do so. The only way we could get him to take a nap was to put him in the car and drive. We drove for about an hour and then headed to downtown Louisville. We ate lunch at Fourth Street Live! I spent many of my lunch breaks here during my year and a half of working in downtown Louisville. It was fun to feel a little nostalgic. :-)
Liam wasn't so sure about an escalator ride.
Eating lunch!
Selfie with mom!
Except he didn't want me in his camera shot.
Taking his own selfie.
After lunch we headed to the tv station and Liam got to meet lots of new friends! I didn't think to take any pictures though.
While we were staying with the Youngs, they had gotten out some baby toys and books for Liam to play with. Their daughter, Karis, wanted to read of the books...but Liam did too. He was following her around the living room trying to get the book away from her and Karis finally found a safe place away from him.
Friday night we met up with one of my friends from SWI (Seminary Wives Institute) and her family. God knew what he was doing they day we sat next to each other during Biblical parenting. Neither one of us had kids (that was rare in that class), we both wanted kids, we had another class together, both got pregnant, and we were due 4 days apart. Our boys ended up being 10 days apart. It's fun to keep up with her on facebook and see how alike our boys are too! We met up at Chick-Fil-A for dinner then headed to Target.
Hanging out at the Target I used to work at! :-)
Saturday - Liam slept better Friday night! I think he was so tired that nothing really mattered that would keep him awake. We got up that morning and headed to Spring Street where our old apartment is. I really wanted to go to the bakery that is 3 doors down from where we lived. Also, Christa wanted some cookies from that bakery because she fell in love with them when she lived there too.
Liam was proud of the cookies he bought for Aunt Christa!
In front of our old front door!
Shoving our faces with donuts!
We also went to the New Albany Farmer's Market. It has grown quite a bit since we lived there. It was fun to walk around though and we ran into our friends Don and Jan! After we left there we went to the art museum that is a block away from where we lived. Unfortunately they were in between exhibits so we didn't get to see anything new. They do have a few permanent exhibits and Liam loved one of them! It had lots of moving parts.
Later that afternoon Caleb had changed Liam's diaper and Liam came walking over to me like this....
So after Caleb "fixed" Liam's outfit, he came over to me like this.
A road named after me! ;-)
Saturday afternoon we went and spent the afternoon with the Van Fleets. We shared lots of stories about working in the ministry and it made me miss them even more because we have so much in common!
Their daughter, Victoria, tried playing barbies with Liam.
The little guy wasn't too impressed though. (phew)
Saturday night we moved from the Young's house to the Guthrie's house. David and Bethany's little guy was feeling better and we had all been looking forward to spending time together. David and Bethany were some of our first friends when we moved. We started going to State Street Baptist Church right after we moved and they invited us out to lunch after church with several people and we were able to get to know them. Then they invited us over to their house that week that and we have been friends ever since!
"Dad! I don't want to leave the Young's!"
We got to meet the Guthrie's chickens.
Sunday morning we went to church at State Street Baptist Church! Things have changed there, but it was so good to be back. Liam actually had kids to play with in the nursery unlike a normal Sunday at our church! He was a little timid at first but he did great.
Sunday afternoon we headed back over to the Van Fleets to have lunch. Roger knows what he's doing when it comes to cooking meat! He cooked some pretty delicious steak for us. We had another good visit with them and with their niece, Courtney. Liam and Courtney became good friends during nursery that morning. :-)
Sunday evening we hung out with the Guthries. We went out for dinner then came back to their house. Our boys got to play together and were so cute! They have two boys. One is 7 months and the other is 2 1/2 years. Liam loved playing with both of them. The younger one is more on his level when it comes to toys, but he also loved being up toddling around with their older one.
Playing with baby Jase! He wanted to get up and go with Liam!
Jealous of Carson's snack.
Interception was required.
Look at how cute these boys are!
Liam used to not cuddle with anyone, but now he cuddles with anyone who has his favorite blankie!
Lots of loves for Mr. David!
Monday morning we went to a park to hang out with Becca Cummings and her little tots!
Just swinging!
Meeting Owen! They are just about the same size.
We were originally planning on heading out Tuesday morning and driving straight through to Centralia but Liam was so worn out. This was him after a less than five minute drive after lunch on Monday, so we decided to head to St. Louis that day and spend the night with my parents.
Saying goodbye to Bethany!
Back when we lived in Indiana we had visited an ice cream place in Charlestown, Indiana. I really wanted to go back and get some ice cream before we headed to St. Louis, but with Liam being so tired I decided against it. We just got on the road and went to St. Louis. Liam slept most of the way, as we figured he would, and then had dinner at my parent's house. I texted my dad and told him that Liam wanted to go out for frozen yogurt that night (because it would make me feel better about not getting ice cream) and my dad said that whatever Liam wants, Liam gets. Score!!
I made some graffiti on the wall at the yogurt place.
We were trying to get a selfie of all of us and then some girl asked if we wanted her to take a picture for us. Selfies are more fun, but I appreciate her thoughtfulness. (Liam didn't quite stay awake long enough to go out for frozen yogurt so he stayed behind with his grandma)
Monday night was another bad night with Liam. Before he went to bed he had been acting like he was possibly working on getting another tooth. He woke up at 11 and I went to check on him and he was burning up. He's never really had much of a fever before so I wasn't sure what an "ok" fever feels like and what a bad fever feels like. Liam was still really sleepy and wasn't really waking up all the way so I wanted to make sure it wasn't really high. I passed him off to Caleb while I went in search of a thermometer. I found a thermometer at my parent's house and the battery was dead. I tried it over and over again praying that it would work long enough for me to get the little guy's temp and had no luck. Right as I was about to close the door to the medicine cabinet I noticed a brand new thermometer still in the package. What an answer to prayer! :-) My mom told me the next morning that she didn't even know she had that! Anyway, the little dude had a 100.6 fever. Of course this is the one trip that I needed children's tylenol and I had forgotten to pack it. (I know some people are adamant that you should let a fever break on it's own and not to try to suppress it, but all three of us were desperate for some sleep). So into the van I hopped and headed to Walgreens down the street. I got the tylenol and was about to check out when I realized that I didn't have my wallet. *facepalm* I went back, got my wallet, headed back to walgreens, headed back to the house. However, I was very cautious not to speed because I was afraid of getting pulled over by a cop wondering what in the world I'm doing out so late. I thought it was around 2 am but I came to find out it was only 11:30. I got the tylenol down Liam and my awesome husband let me go back to bed while he waited for the fever to break. Liam was up again at 6 am so I got up with him. This tooth that is coming in is quite a booger! (not literally.) Fortunately Liam's grandma was up around 7:30ish and she took him so I could go back to bed.
Tuesday - Liam was pretty fussy the rest of the morning. We had plans to meet up with my friend, Emily, so Caleb and I went ahead and left Liam in the arms of his grandma and enjoyed our lunch with her. My mom is always talking about wishing she was here to help me out with Liam when he's having a rough time so I let her have at it! Anyway, I had a really good visit with Emily! She was one of my bridesmaids and it's been two years since I have even seen her! That's uncalled for!
We left Tuesday afternoon and headed to Centralia. Liam fussed pretty much the whole way despite all of my efforts. When we finally got home and he saw all of his toys on the floor his fussies were temporarily gone! Never has there been a boy happier to be home from vacation!
I'm so glad that you do this blog. It's neat to read about your adventures.
