Meet Oscar

My parents were in Florida last week and they came across a store that had baby slider turtles.  Guess who got a new pet.  :-)

Meet Oscar:

Here he is compared to a quarter. And you can admire his pretty shell.

He was a mister grumpy gills after i took this picture.  He doesnt like me picking him up, especially when he is sleeping under some leaves.

The day after I found out my parents bought this little guy, we were out garage saling with Caleb's parents and scored a 10 gallon aquarium for $5 with stuff included in it!  It's the perfect size for Oscar right now.  He's supposed to get quite a bit bigger, but I think this 10 gallon tank will work for awhile and if he gets too big, I may just have to let him go in a pond.  I just dont want to have a 50 gallon aquarium to clean (or find room for)

Caleb decided one day before the turtle arrived that his name should be Oscar.  My mom texted me either that day or the day after (unknowing of our conversation about the name) and asked if we had come up with a name because my dad had been calling him Oscar.  So guess what.  His name is Oscar.
