Sunday - Our church had it's sixth birthday celebration. We met in the park that evening and had homemade ice cream along with a sing and share time. I braved my ice cream maker and made ice cream for the first time. It was pretty easy!
Monday - Liam and I went to Columbia. We had appointments there and then I also had to go get a shot (boo) and then we had to get some grocery shopping done. By the time we got home I was super sore. Liam had had a rough day at church on Sunday so I spent a lot of time carrying him around trying to keep him quiet. He's getting some more teeth in and this has been the worst round of teething that he has ever had, even worse than his first round of molars!
He of course had to wear his sock puppets to our appointments.
That evening Caleb started working on refinishing a dresser. He had gotten it from his grandparents awhile ago and now that we have another tot coming we needed another dresser. Of course he had lots of "help".
Tuesday - Caleb's new guitar was delivered. He sold one of his old ones and wanted to get a nicer one. He was able to score this one on ebay. Liam was super excited about the big box!
That evening Caleb had to mow. Liam wanted to be outside with him sooooo bad. I took him out to the backyard while Caleb was in the front yard. He wasn't completely satisfied with that. He wanted to be out there helping Caleb. He had tears and everything.
Thursday - Caleb's family stopped in Columbia and picked up our couch for us, saving us an $80 delivery charge! I love having a reclining couch. :-) His family then spent the evening with us. Caleb grilled some brats and we hung out in the backyard.
Saturday - We went to Hannibal to hang out with Glenn, Leah, and Everly. We hadn't gotten to meet sweet little Everly yet so that was fun :-) We went to Riverview park to hang out and the guys played frisbee. Liam wanted to play but didn't know how and he was also crabby from not getting much of a nap. It made for an interesting show.
Then we had dinner at Country Kitchen (I loooove their butter pecan syrup!) Liam was exhausted by the time we left Hannibal.
Some more pictures from this week:
I kept telling him he could turn his chair around to see the tv better, but he still sat like this every time he watched tv.
I couldn't get him to come inside so I told him I was going to leave him out there. He stood there for a few minutes just babbling away. It turns out that there was a baby bunny out there that he was chattin it up with. This boy is obsessed with bunnies.
Since our new couch reclines there is a little bit of space between it and the wall. Liam figured out that he could crawl through that secret passage and get to his diaper bag that is full of snacks that is normally out of his reach.
Seth brought Liam some peanuts toys he found at a yard sale. One evening Caleb noticed Liam had something in his mouth. He asked Liam what he was eating and he said "puppy!" Caleb went and pulled it out of Liam's mouth and found Snoopy's nose.
Week of May 24
Sunday - We had two baptisms after church on Sunday! Liam's buddy Johnathon was one of them. I'm not sure why, but Liam got upset when he was baptized.
He was happiest when he got to sit with his buddy, Wes. Wes has a cool pen that works well for teething. ;-)
We don't have a baptistry at our church so we have to go to a different church to do them. We had to wait awhile after church to give those church people time to leave. Liam went on a walk with me to the mail box to mail a few things. :-)
Monday - My parents came over and spent the day with us.
Playing Mr. Potato Head with grandma.
This is what happens when Grandma and Grandpa have to leave.
Tuesday - I finally got a bit of energy and was able to get a lot of work done around the house. The baby's room had kind of become a project waiting room and so after Caleb got the dresser refinished I had no excuses to get everything else in there done. That night we got our living room rearranged to better fit our new couch.
Thursday - Charter (shockingly) keeps causing us problems. Their closest store is in Mexico so I decided to go ahead and go down there to straighten everything up with them. Hopefully we're all squared away with them now. While we were in Mexico we went grocery shopping at Aldi. Liam yelled "HI!!" to every person that he saw and had to wave at everyone. He certainly doesn't have much stranger danger. Old people just eat him up.
That afternoon we had a big storm roll through. It took three decent sized branches off of the tree in our backyard. One of them hit our roof and slide to the front of the house. Liam was napping and it scared me.
Friday - Anchorfest and the city wide yard sales started. Caleb and I went out that morning and hit up a few sales. Caleb was able to score some good deals like a new (to us) weed eater. Caleb's family came up for the day to check out some of the yard sales. We hung out with them for the afternoon. I also got to go check out a new frozen yogurt place in town with Karisha. I didn't know that it even existed until she told me about it. It's a lot like Orange Leaf and I'm pretty excited/scared about it! Excited because I love frozen yogurt, scared because we'll probably end up spending way too much money there.
Saturday - Our church had a yard sale and Caleb went to go help out with that. There was one sale that was advertised in the paper that I wanted to go to because they said they had a glider rocker for sale. I have one but I wanted to keep an eye out for a bit of a nicer and more comfortable one and so I can have one in the living room and in our bedroom. There are certain things that I'm looking for on one and when I got to this sale, it was everything I wanted and it was a super good price! The only problem was that it had a sold sign on it. :-( Boo. That evening Caleb noticed one posted for sale on Facebook. It was a little bit more than what I wanted to spend but I told him to go ahead and claim it. He tried to claim it but then the lady raised the price on him, then she lowered it, Caleb agreed to it again, and then a little while later she told him that someone offered her more so he couldn't have it. What a great seller she was. I told Caleb that clearly God just doesn't want us to get one right now. :-)
We went out to the anchorfest festivities that evening to go get something to eat.
It's always exciting when someone gives you a funnel cake!
Caleb and Liam shared some nachos.
I'm not sure what this is about, but it's cute. :-)
Some more pictures from the week:
Liam always shushes anytime he thinks someone is sleeping or is covered up with a blanket. His duckie faucet cover is no exception. His quietness usually lasts about .5 seconds before he takes it upon himself to wake up whoever/whatever is sleeping.
I looked over and saw Liam watching tv like this.
Checking out tools with dad on the internet.
Week of May 31
Sunday - Liam was looking quite sharp for church.
Tuesday - Caleb started digging up some of the sod out of our yard so he could lay some bricks that he had gotten for free at a yard sale a few weeks back. He got Liam to help him out. Liam started pulling grass out by the handfuls.
Wednesday - We had church visitation. After we made a visit then Caleb and John from church went and found a dryer on the side of the road that they were planning on taking for scrap. As they were loading it someone yelled to them from across the street asking if they wanted some more scrap. This guy had a bunch of scrap that he was wanting to get rid of. It was so much that they had to go back the next night with a truck and trailer to get it all. John takes all of this to the scrap yard and donates the money to our building fund, so that will be some easy money!
Thursday - I had my 36 week appointment. I am at 3 cm dilated, which is exactly where I was with Liam at this point. She also thinks that the baby is about 6 lbs now. Now we just wait for him to decide to make his appearance. :-) After I got home I started getting some bags packed for the hospital. Mostly just things like stuff for the baby and stuff that I won't be needing between now and then.
Friday - we went to Caleb's parents house for the afternoon. We went to some Mennonite stores. I'm always amazed at the deals you can find at those places.
Saturday - I had made cinnamon rolls for Caleb's men's Bible study, but it ended up getting cancelled that morning so we now had an abundance of cinnamon rolls. I dont think anyone in our house was upset about that. :-) They are so much better than store bought, I have just been slacking lately and hadn't made any in a long time. This is the first time Liam has had a cinnamon roll from my yeast starter recipe.
Liam's frosting stache from his cinnamon roll.
More pictures from this week:
I asked Liam to bring me some books to read to him and this is what he brought me.
He loves his books!
I flipped the camera around on my phone so he could see himself and this is what he did. Such a boy.
So one night this week I made a quesadilla for dinner. I had to get a new package of tortillas out of the pantry. I honestly don't remember if I put the tortillas in the fridge right after I was done or if I left them out on the counter for any length of time. I really thought I put them away, but my mind is a little scattered right now. So anyway a few days later Caleb gets out the tortillas to make a quesadilla and he asked me why there was a chunk taken out of all of them. We got to looking at the bag and there was a hole chewed into the bag. Can mice get in your refrigerator? Nothing else in the fridge had been touched but most things are in sealed containers. What blows my mind is the amount of tortilla that this mouse ate. These are the big dinner-plate sized tortillas and there is about 2-3 inches eaten out of all of them. I only used one tortilla so there were 7 left in the bag. My next thought was maybe it was a rat but the hole in the bag looks too small for a rat. Caleb set a trap but we have seen no other evidence of a mouse anywhere. Even if I left them out on the counter, there are much tastier and easier things like fresh fruits and veggies to get to which makes me think it must have gotten in the refrigerator. I also don't think it was Liam. If I did leave them out, he could have reached them to pull them down but he couldn't have put them back up there. We would have noticed if he left them on the floor. He also can't open the door to the refrigerator. We have a door from our living room to the kitchen that we usually keep closed so he isn't allowed to freely roam the kitchen unsupervised.
Here's a video from the past couple of weeks:
I gave Liam some lunch and then stepped into the bathroom for a second. I could hear him in the kitchen laughing. I came back to see what he was laughing at and never could figure it out. I eventually got my phone out and recorded him. Silly boy.
