Weeks of October 20 and October 27

Well it's going to be another 2 week update because fancy hotels make you pay extra for internet.  Lame.

Week of October 20:
I finally finished up all of my current sewing projects this week!

A new vest:

This is the third one I made.  The first was too small, second too big, and this one is a tad snug but he can wear it just fine.

New boots:

Burp cloths:
Only half are pictured. I'm not sure where the other half are at the moment, but burp cloths get used a whole lot around here.

Rice bags: (Don't tell my sister, but the big one is for her).  These are wonderful to heat up in the microwave and snuggle up with when your husband doesn't want to turn the heater on.

Car seat blanket:
Snoopy (Liam's newest stuffed animal thanks to grandma and grandpa smith) had to model the blanket because I kept forgetting to get one with Liam.  Since Liam acts like the car seat is a torture device I opted for a model who is more cooperative.

It has slits cut in it for the straps and buckle.  This way he can have the blanket wrapped all the way around him instead of just sitting on top of him.

Monday we went up to Caleb's parents' house and helped them move some of their stuff out.  Well, Caleb did more work than I did.  After we ate lunch there were some sounds coming from the bottom end of Liam.  He had quite the blow out.  As Caleb's mom carried Liam over to where I was changing him I saw poo leaking through the back on his onesie and knew it was going to be bad news because he had two onesies on.  Yep.  It was gross. Liam was up to his armpits in poo. Caleb ended up giving Liam a bath because it was the easiest way to get him cleaned up. Fortunately Caleb's parents' washer and dryer sold with the house so they weren't packed up.  The joy of breastfed babies.  :-)

I know, it's gross.  But since the main purpose of my blog is for my children to read some day if they want to...Dear Liam, this is what I went through.  You're welcome.

When we told our parents we were going to have a baby, we gave them each a book with a tag on it that said "Please read to me in August 2013.  Love, Baby Smith".  Well, he finally had it read to him. :-)  He screamed most of the time though.

Thursday night we went to visit with some friends from church to watch the World Series.  Even though the games are on Fox now instead of TBS, we still don't get that channel.  :-(  All we get is PBS and ABC.  I offered to make dinner for us, but I'm not a very good cook.  Fortunately pinterest is awesome.  It taught me how to make chicken parmesan and how to make green beans that actually tasted good.

Liam seemed to really like the game.  I laid him down on the floor and his eyes were glued to the tv (they have a big bright tv).  He laid there and kicked his legs and and moved his arms and made sounds like he was cheering them on.  It was cute.  :-)  He wore his Cardinals onesie and we tried to put his Cardinals booties on him but he wouldn't keep them on.  He didn't quite make it all of the way through the game, but he at least stayed awake until we took the lead.

Week of October 27
We had a guest speaker at church from Voice of the Martyrs.  It's so easy to forget about other Christians through out the world that are persecuted for their faith, so it was a great reminder.

Monday morning we left out early to go to the Missouri Baptist Convention in Kansas City.  We were on our way there and just about past Columbia when I realized that I forgot Liam's suitcase.  -_-  That's not really something that I can go without.  We were kind of on a tight schedule because the conference started at 8:30 and we had left around 6, and it's a 2.5 hours drive.  Fortunately Caleb's parents were following us (they stayed with us the night before) and so we pulled over and Caleb rode with his dad the rest of the way while Caleb's mom and I turned around and went back to the house.  I felt like such a loofa, but I'm so thankful that I realized it while we were only a little over a half hour away from home instead of realizing it once we got to Kansas City.  I'm pretty sure I would have cried.

The hotel that we were staying at was the Sheraton at the Crown Center.  The Crown Center has a bunch of shops and restaurants.  It's really neat and there's a walk way from the hotel so you dont have to walk outside to get there.  We never had to drive anywhere the whole time we were there.  I always thought it would be neat to stay in a fancy hotel but after staying at a Hilton for our honeymoon and staying at this Sheraton, cheaper hotels are the way to go.  I would much rather stay at a Drury Inn or Holiday Inn that has wifi, parking, and breakfast all included in the price.  The convention was able to secure a decent rate for the hotel so we didn't have to pay the normal $200/night so that was good.  At least the cable was free so Liam and I could watch the Cards game on Monday night, even though we didn't win.  :-(  Although, now I can say I've stayed in a hotel with 40 floors now.  I'll add that to my bucket list so I can scratch it off.

Liam being a bed hog.  :-)

Liam really enjoyed getting to spend a few days with his grandparents, cousins, aunt, and uncle.  There was always someone to hold him and give him lovins.  There were also lots of strangers that came up and started talking to him.  We were in line at a reception thing and this old guy comes up and peeked in the stroller at Liam and said "We better get in line in front of this little boy!  With those cheeks there may not be anything left once he goes through the line!"

These pictures are Christa's.  Oh hey Christa is it ok if I steal your pictures for my blog?

Liam with his cousins.  He enjoyed riding in his stroller so much more without the car seat.
My kid was the least squirmy and the most grumpy looking.  Each grandkid got a peanuts character.  :-)

Tuesday I woke up not feeling so great.  I thought I just had a clogged milk duct but after calling the doctors office a few days later they told me that I had mastitis.  For any of you current or former breastfeeding mamas, I'm sure you might be able to relate to how painful that can be.  I was super sore, achy, and had chills.  I felt slightly better after eating lunch and taking a nap that afternoon, but then the Wednesday morning I woke up feeling exactly how I did the Tuesday morning but with an awful headache.  I was ready to wean that kid right then and there.  Although Liam benefited from it because I felt so blah on Wednesday that I didn't care to get him dressed that day so he got to wear his jammies all day.  I realize that he's only a baby and what does it matter if babies wear sleep n plays all day, but I'm just weird and like to get him dressed every day.  I told myself I was just being a cool mom.

Tuesday night Krystal, my former college roommate, and her family came to visit us at the hotel!  It was good to get to see them again and they got to meet Liam for the first time.  The last time we saw them Liam was still 5 days away from making his appearance in the world.

This picture is stolen from Krystal's facebook.  :-)

Thursday night we had trunk or treat at church.  I was going to be a tree and carry Liam in a front baby carrier and he was going to be Zaccheaus, but after the issues I was having that week, there was no way I was going to be able to wear a carrier like that.  Fortunately I had a back up outfit for him with some of the things I recently made him.  Liam the lumberjack!

For those of you concerned about my baby with a real axe, just pay attention to this picture instead:

I didn't get a picture of Caleb in his costume, but basically he wore this outfit with a name tag that said "Pontius".  Get it?

Friday my dad came to pack up the stuff he had in a flea market here and he stopped by to hang out for a little bit.

Here are some more pictures from the past couple of weeks.

Victory!  I got my arm out of the swaddle!  (When I went to check on him he was laying there holding this arm up.)

Oh his face.

Sometimes he sucks on his pacifier so hard that his face looks like this, even after nursing.
 Liam with his other Grandpa!
Liam is starting to get a little cradle cap so I put lotion on his head and this happened.  Yep.  He's my kid.
It's hard work gobbling til you wobble!
 Ninja moves

Oh yeah, Caleb and I got trapper hats.

Here are some videos:

Practicing his howl with dad.

Singing his favorite song:
Sometimes when he gets fussy he likes to suck on Caleb's finger.  That was the case tonight, but Liam was being fussy just to fuss.  Then this happened.
